Infomorphs
An infomorph is an entity whose consciousness resides in a computer brain and whose personality and memories are in the form of software and data. It has two elements; a digital mind consisting of either an AI or a mind-emulation , and a body of either a CyberShell or a Bioshell.
AIs and mind emulations are rated for program Complexity, from 4 (least complex) to 10 (most sophisticated). A digital mind must be hosted on a cybershell or bioshell featuring a computer with equal or greater Complexity.
Infomorph need to buy a body as well. They pay full price for the physical abilities of their main body. Secondary bodies are bought as Allies (subtract 200 point from cost, for IQ 0, if they are dormant when not directly controlled by the character), then as Puppets.
Infomorphs (other than NAI) living as animals, slaves or indentured servants have Status equal to one less than their owner. It's assumed that these infomorphs are constantly on duty, which is occasionally hazardous.
An SAI living in a society where it is considered a full citizen (See Pan-sapient rights, p. THS 127). Remove Duty and Poverty: Dead Broke.
Emergent Intelligence (+70 points)
An LAI or SAI that evolved on it's own out of less sophisticated programs. Remove Duty, Honesty, Poverty: Dead Broke, and Reprogrammable.
Orphan (+40 points)
An SAI or LAI given broad instructions by a now-absent master, thus granting it de facto freedom. Same as Citizen, but when living in a society that doesn't grant it citizenship, it will usually have a Secret.
Rogue (+20 points)
An LAI or SAI whose restrictive programming was subverted. Delete Honesty. This may be combined with Citizen or Orphan.
Options for Infomorphs
A few options for Infomorphs deserve special consideration.
Increased IQ & DX: These require a lot of training in AIs, and each +1 to either stat increases the monetary cost of an NAI by $16,000, $120,000 for an LAI, and $600,000 for an SAI.
Duplication: If the infomorph is capable of running copies that are loyal and cooperative, that's Duplication , No Sympathetic Injury (+20%), Digital (-60%), 21 points/dupe. In the setting, this is called XoXing, and is punishable by deletion almost everywhere. Furthermore, any infomorph can Xox itself, but the copy is not loyal and cooperative - it's a different character, who has just as good a claim to being the original as you.
Compartmentalized mind.
Skill programs: The default skill program is worth 1 CP, is Complexity 3, takes up 1 GB, and costs 50$. Skill programs for most adventuring skills are LC 4.
A collection of cybershells, upgraded to 4.th edition.

A living body whose higher brain functions have be subsumed by an implanted bioshell interface computer. p.TS126. Add this lens to an InfoMorph template, add a BioRoid template (or the basic 0-point human template plus the BioroidBodyMetaTrait),and you have an informorph character in a bioshell.

""LAIs"" think ahead and make decisions. They still have problems with genuine creative thought and emotions, however. They constantly run simulations to analyze options and avoid problems, represented by the Visualization advantage.

""SAIs"" have intellects equalling or surpassing those of humans. They have the ability to reason creatively, coupled with the speed of a computer.
