*The king was considered second only to God in medieval or indeed feudal age England. The King's position was granted by God, so King may in fact hold status 8/7
depending on whether or not a God exists in your campaign. There was no "Emperor" of England, as previously stated.
**The very same is true for the german Kaiser. Actually you'd have to place the Pope at the side of the Kaiser, as a major part of the medieval times was dominated by the question who install whom: the Pope the Kaiser or the Kaiser the pope. This was called the "Investiturstreit". Nonetheless it was always clear that God stands above both.
* Earl is the correct title in England. The eqyuivalent title in continental Europe is a Count.
