There are 3 versions of profiler templates. The first two are "realistic". The third one is cinematic, as seen on TV shows and movies.
This profiler is not a police agent. Instead, he has a main profession and occasionally assists the police or another federal agency on a specific case. This is how most European profilers work. Obviously, this template should be combined with another template. Specialties include psychiatry, psychology, criminology, sociology and forensics.
Such a profiler has access to the crime scene, the police report, and the autopsy report. He can refuse a case. However, he only gives his opinion when asked for it, and isn't officially involved in the case. For instance, he cannot directly talk to victims or witnesses.

(*) The specialty must have some relevance with the profiler's activity. Valid specialties include "Neo-nazi movements", "Serial killers", "Religious fanatism", "Victimology", "Pedophilia", specific mental illnesses or conditions, etc.
This kind of profiler is a member of a law enforcement agency that specialized in profiling along the course of his career. This is mostly the american version of a profiler, especially for agents that work at the Behavioral Science Unit at the FBI.
